“Alliance Express Serviceman Saves the Day! ”

Thursday Oct. 4, 2007 - In a fast paced world, who has the time to stop and listen? One man did, and became a hero to two local Dedham residents. Thursday afternoon, during the course of a scheduled burner tune-up call our service technician, Tony Goodine knocked repeatedly at the front door of our customer but got no response. Tony then had our dispatcher call the customer’s home but to no avail, there was no answer. Then Tony heard something:

"I heard someone hollering, saying, 'I can't get to the door," Goodine said, "She wouldn't answer the phone so I called the Dedham police.”

When police arrived they found a 90-year-old man on the floor suffering from a stroke, and learned that when his 89-year-old wife tried to help him, she fell as well. Both residents had been injured, incapacitated and unable to go for help for two days.

Thankfully Mr. Goodine thought to call the police and now, after two day of being trapped in their home, they are both alive and doing well.

"You have to make yourself aware of older people and kind of watch out for them," said Tony Goodine of Alliance Express. "I think I did what hopefully anybody would have done.” Hats off to Tony for his humble spirit and ability to stay calm during a stressful situation.
